CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - A Casper woman who admitted to breaking her infant’s arm out of frustration could avoid prison time under a plea agreement with prosecutors.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1Ro7Ssb ) that 20-year-old Kelsey Steed entered an Alford plea Thursday to one count of child abuse. The plea means she doesn’t admit to the crime but acknowledges that there’s enough evidence to convict her.

Under the agreement, Steed faces up to one year in jail or probation, or a combination of both.

Steed told police she had been rough with her 8-month-old daughter because she was frustrated with the child. Doctors found fractures to the baby’s arm and several older fractures.

On Thursday, the judge said she has “serious concerns” about the plea deal and may reject it all together at sentencing.
