FREEHOLD, N.J. (AP) - A Brooklyn, New York, man has admitted he was high on LSD during a high-speed chase that ended in a crash on the Garden State Parkway.

Twenty-three-year-old Samuel Bompane pleaded guilty on Thursday to eluding, assault by auto, drug possession and driving while intoxicated.

Bompane admitted he was driving at more than 100 mph on the toll road in April when state troopers broke off their pursuit in Toms River because they were nearing a construction zone.

Bompane continued speeding into Monmouth County, where he hit a guardrail and careened into another vehicle, injuring a motorist in Holmdel.

Under terms of a plea agreement in Monmouth County, Bompane must serve at least 3 years of a 16-year sentence before he’ll be eligible for parole.
