WASHBURN, N.D. (AP) - Cross Ranch State Park near Washburn is hosting a celebration this weekend of the 50th anniversary of North Dakota’s Parks and Recreation Department.

The Saturday event will include food, musical entertainment, a guided hike, horse-drawn wagon rides, a scavenger hunt and guest speakers including State Parks Director Mark Zimmerman.

The department’s 50th Anniversary Traveling Exhibit also will be open to the public.

The event is one of 13 around the state this year celebrating the golden anniversary of Parks and Rec.
