DALLAS (AP) - The Facebook data center planned for Fort Worth is the latest milestone for North Texas cities vying for business in a key Internet industry.
The Dallas Morning News reports (https://bit.ly/1JWmIlK ) that the $1 billion, 750,000-square-foot project Facebook announced this month will become the latest data center opened in the area.
The Dallas suburb of Richardson hosts a Cisco Systems building that brought in $11 million in tax revenues for the city and county in one year. It has at least 18 other data centers.
Plano and Frisco also have data centers in the works.
Data centers store servers that make it possible for websites to process requests and operations.
