VAIL, Colo. (AP) - A former Eagle County sheriff’s deputy accused of sexually assaulting a woman in a vacant warehouse has pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors as part of a deal with prosecutors.

The Vail Daily reports (https://goo.gl/LtZFWp ) 42-year-old Timothy Hay pleaded guilty to third-degree assault and second-degree criminal trespass and must register as a sex offender. The deal allows Hay to avoid a trial on three felony counts of sexual assault.

The woman told investigators she was driving Hay home after drinking at a bar Sept. 18 when Hay asked her to pull over at a warehouse near the Eagle County airport. Hay is accused of slamming the woman’s face into a wall and sexually assaulting her.

Hay, who joined the department in 2003, was off duty at the time of the assault.
