HAGATNA, Guam (AP) - Guam police have arrested an officer on suspicion of murder after the fatal shooting of a 15-year veteran of the force.

Department spokesman A.J. Balajadia told the Pacific Daily News (https://bit.ly/1HX1ELH) an intruder wasn’t involved in the shooting that left 38-year-old officer Eibert G Piolo dead.

An internal affairs investigation is taking place after the Monday arrest of 30-year-old Mark Anthony Torre.

The department referred questions about the shooting to court documents, which weren’t immediately available Monday morning.

The shooting prompted acting Police Chief Joseph Cruz to request that his Monday morning confirmation hearing to take over the department’s top leadership role be rescheduled.

The legislature’s Committee on Public Safety will swear Cruz in on July 27.
