BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - Sen. John Hoeven is encouraging North Dakota high school marching bands to apply for the 2016 National Independence Day Parade in Washington, D.C.

Hoeven says organizers are seeking applications from high school marching bands interested in representing the state at the annual parade.

Hoeven says it’s a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity” for high school marching band members.

Marching bands must apply at Hoeven’s Bismarck office by Aug. 19.
