ADDISON, Vt. (AP) - Vermont State Police are investigating the near drowning of an 18-month-old child in Addison.

Authorities determined the child had wandered out the back door of a home and into a fenced-in yard where a gate had been left open around 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Family members noticed the child was missing and found the child floating in a 4-foot pool.

Family members administered CPR and revived the child, who was taken to a hospital and held overnight for observation.
