HAMDEN, Conn. (AP) - A fifth person has been arrested in the killing of a man whose plastic-wrapped body was found after a July 4 explosion in a park.

Authorities said 26-year-old Maurice Wearing was arrested Tuesday at a Milford probation office. He is charged with conspiracy to commit murder, second-degree hindering prosecution and tampering with evidence in the death of 40-year-old Edward Brooks. Wearing is held on $1 million bail. It’s not known if he has a lawyer.

On Monday, authorities charged Christopher Miller with killing Brooks at a West Haven house where they lived with several people. Police said Brooks was shot and beaten and Miller tried to blow up his body with a pipe bomb after dumping it in woods at West Rock State Park.

Wearing and two others are accused of helping Miller hide the killing.
