ORANGE, Calif. (AP) - Firefighters are making progress on a brush fire that forced the evacuation of an Orange County campground.

Authorities say the 180-acre blaze near Irvine Lake is 50 percent contained. Aircraft dumped water and fire retardant and about 200 firefighters are on the line.

The fire broke out Monday morning in the unincorporated Silverado Canyon area. It raced through tinder-dry brush, burned three abandoned homes and forced 10 to 15 people camping or fishing at Lake Irvine to leave.

No injuries have been reported.
