PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The Philadelphia Police Department says an officer conspired with his ex-wife’s brother to spread false information after being shot while off-duty.

Officer Robert Penn was arrested Tuesday on charges of criminal Solicitation, criminal conspiracy and obstructing the administration of law.

The 48-year-old Penn has been suspended for 30 days with the intent to dismiss.

Penn’s former brother-in-law, Charles May, was also arrested. Police did not specify charges against him.
