GREENSBURG, Pa. (AP) - Officials say the sale of a shuttered western Pennsylvania prison has been finalized.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports (https://bit.ly/1OdhyR4 ) the State Correctional Institute at Greensburg was sold for $950,000 to Carlisle businessman David Goldsmith’s company, Energy Management Concepts. That happened July 2.

The prison closed in 2013 due to high costs and declining inmate population. The Department of General Services put the site up for bid in November 2014 and two bids were opened on Feb. 18.

Goldsmith’s plans for the property aren’t clear. He didn’t return phone messages seeking comment.

The prison is located about 30 miles east of Pittsburgh.
