HAGATNA, Guam (AP) - A Superior Court of Guam judge has reduced the bail amount for a Guam Police Department officer facing a murder charge in the shooting death of a fellow officer.

The Pacific Daily News reports (https://bit.ly/1M5dO4W ) the bail for Mark Anthony Torre Jr. was set at $500,000 Tuesday. Judge Michael Bordallo agreed to reduce the bail to $165,000 in cash or property at a hearing Wednesday.

Torre has been accused of killing Elbert Piolo, who died Monday at Torre’s residence. Torre was charged Tuesday with first-degree murder.

At the hearing, Torre’s attorney said the family has property that can be put up for bond. If the bond is posted, Torre will be placed on house arrest.

A police spokesman says Torre will be on 20-day paid administrative leave starting Monday.
