LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. (AP) - The Lake George Village Board is calling for Warren County supervisors to repeal legislation allowing the sale of small fireworks.

The Post-Star of Glens Falls reports (https://bit.ly/1TC8JmW ) fireworks have resulted in numerous complaints in the Adirondack resort town, as well as played a role in two local fires - one damaging a Kingsbury home and another in a truck in which a man placed spent fireworks that rekindled.

State law allows for certain types of small fireworks to be sold between the periods of June 1 to July 5 and Dec. 26 to Jan. 2 for counties that opt in.

A municipality cannot ban the sale or use of fireworks in a county that opted in.

Small fireworks remain banned in approximately half of New York’s 62 counties and New York City.
