FLORENCE, Ariz. (AP) - A Casa Grande man has been arrested in connection with an alleged fraud scheme targeting the elderly around Pinal County.

County sheriff’s officials say the scam involves a group posing as a mobile automobile repair service under the names of “Dent Doctor” and “Auto Body Repair.”

The group allegedly looks for vehicles with small dents or minor body damage, solicit the victims to pay up-front for on-site repairs and then do superficial and incomplete work.

The scams allegedly have taken place in unincorporated areas of Florence, Mesa, Casa Grande, Arizona City and Maricopa.

Sheriff’s officials say they’ve identified several victims with losses of thousands of dollars.

They say 34-year-old Randy Thompson is being held on $75,000 bond on suspicion of fraudulent schemes.

It’s unclear if he has a lawyer yet.
