LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas linebacker Brooks Ellis and Arkansas State quarterback Fredi Knighten are among 80 players named to the watch list for the Wuerffel Trophy.

The award is named after 1996 Heisman Trophy winner Danny Wuerffel and is awarded to the player based on a combination of community service and athletic and academic achievement.

Ellis was credited with 55 tackles last season along with two interceptions and two forced fumbles. He also helped hand out food to low income families for Thanksgiving, picked up trash at parks and along highways, spoke to underprivileged children and volunteered with Special Olympics.

Knighten was first-team All-Sun Belt Conference last season and is a preseason first-team All-Sun Belt selection this year.

Semifinalists will be announced Nov. 3, finalists on Nov. 24 and the winner on Dec. 8.
