SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - The Spokane Police Department says one of its officers has been arrested and placed on administrative leave following his arrest in a domestic violence and burglary case.

Investigators say Officer John W. Yen was reportedly armed with his personal firearm as he kicked in the door of a residence where his girlfriend was, and that the woman asked him to leave, but he entered the home instead.

The 25-year-old officer was arrested for investigation of first-degree burglary-domestic violence. He was placed on leave pending the outcome of the criminal case and an internal affairs investigation.

The Spokane Police Guild did not immediately return an email asking whether Yen had obtained a lawyer.
