BROCKTON, Mass. (AP) - Police are looking for a man they say took advantage of an 89-year-old woman’s kindness, hogtying her and robbing her after knocking on her door and asking to use the phone.

Brockton police say the suspect came to the woman’s door at noon Tuesday.

When she let him inside, he used scarves and an electrical cord to bind her ankles and wrists, then stole jewelry.

She asked the man if he was going to kill her, to which he responded she was a nice lady and he didn’t want to hurt her.

The victim crawled to her door and yelled for help. She was treated at the hospital.

The suspect is in his 40s with dark skin and a scruffy beard. He was wearing a ball cap and had a backpack.
