PHOENIX (AP) - Arizona’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for June was 5.9 percent, up one-tenth of a percentage point from May.

State Department of Administration officials say Arizona’s jobless rate still is far below last year at this time when it was at 6.8 percent.

The national unemployment rate dropped two-tenths of a percentage point to 5.3 percent in June.

Analysts say Arizona’s economy lost 46,800 non-farm jobs last month compared 10,500 in May.

Across Arizona’s economy, five of the 11 sectors lost jobs and just three added jobs last month.

Analysts say Government shed 41,300 jobs in May with Local Education losing 39,100 of that total.

Leisure and Hospitality lost 6,500 jobs last month.

Analysts say Professional and Business Services added 3,300 jobs while Construction added 900 jobs in May.
