VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) - A man has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in a Virginia Beach cold case.

Media outlets report that 38-year-old Tyrone Stewart Jackson entered his plea on Wednesday in Virginia Beach Circuit Court. He also pleaded guilty to attempted robbery and use of a firearm.

Court documents show Jackson and another man planned to rob Sean James Sessome, who they believed had drugs and cash. The affidavit says Sessome was shot three times during the 2004 robbery.

In 2013, police reopened the case. DNA found at the scene was tested, showing it belonged to Jackson.

Commonwealth’s attorney spokeswoman Macie Pridgen says Jackson was arrested Dec. 4, 2014. No one else has been charged in Sessome’s death.
