HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP) - A civil suit alleging wrongful prosecution against Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli has been dismissed.

The Record reports (https://bit.ly/1gDcA4X ) the suit filed by Sgt. Thomas Aletta claimed Molinelli maliciously prosecuted him in part of a case against former Hackensack Police Chief Ken Zisa.

Judge Robert Wilson called the suit “a vast conspiracy of boundless dimensions” with “scandalous” claims against the county’s top prosecutor.

Aletta was acquitted of official misconduct and conspiracy charges in 2012 in connection with an alleged cover up of a robbery and assault involving sons of Zisa’s girlfriend.

The suit claimed Molinelli orchestrated the case against Zisa in support of state Sen. Loretta Weinberg, who was engaged in a “political war” with the former chief.

Aletta’s attorney plans to either refile the suit with amendments or begin a new complaint.
