ASPEN, Colo. (AP) - Authorities have released the names of two campers who investigators believe were killed by lightning near Aspen.

The Pitkin County Coroner’s Office said Thursday that 41-year-old Jeffery Beard and 14-year-old Cameron Beard, both of Colorado Springs, were found unresponsive in their tent south of the Maroon Bells parking lot at about 11,000 feet Wednesday morning. The office has not released autopsy results.

Two juveniles associated with the campers were found walking toward the lot on their own and were taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation. No other information has been released.

The Maroon Bells are two 14,000-foot peaks in the Elk Mountains.
