PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Dow Chemical is moving about 350 employees from Philadelphia’s Independence Mall to a suburban corporate center.

The move to Collegeville should be completed by the middle of 2016. It will combine researchers at the former Rohm & Haas Spring House facility in Montgomery County with business staff in Center City.

Dow spokeswoman Christine Miller tells The Philadelphia Inquirer (https://bit.ly/1HQpFO0 ) the goal is to get the “center of gravity into one building.”

Philadelphia employees were told of the move in emails and staff meetings on Wednesday.

The landmark Rohm & Haas headquarters opened on Independence Mall in 1964. Part of it now operates as a beer garden.
