BUNNELL, Fla. (AP) - A central Florida man was sentenced to two counts of life in prison for kidnapping, burglarizing and seriously injuring a food delivery driver.

Jurors found 23-year-old Guiseppe Verdone Jr. guilty June 18 and Circuit Judge J. David Walsh sentenced him on Wednesday. He was also given 30 years in prison on a robbery conviction.

Prosecutors say on Nov. 2, 2013, Verdone called King Palace and placed a delivery order. When 43-year-old driver Ming Gong showed up with the food, Verdone attacked him with a stun gun, handcuffed him and drove him around town.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal (https://bit.ly/1Lc13Gu ) reports Verdone wanted Gong’s car to go to Virginia. Gong escaped by jumping from the car. He severely injured his head and nearly died.

Verdone was arrested in South Carolina.
