ST. ANDREWS, Scotland (AP) - A glance at the first round of the British Open on the Old Course at St. Andrews:

Leading: Dustin Johnson, runner-up in the U.S. Open, with a 7-under 65

Just behind: Six players, including Jason Day, former Open champion Paul Lawrie and Zach Johnson, were a stroke back.

Where’s Tiger? Tiger Woods shot a 4-over 76 and was 11 shots off the lead.

And Jordan? Jordan Spieth, aiming for the third leg of the Grand Slam after winning the Masters and U.S. Open, shot a 67.

Noteworthy: Not one player in the 156-man field made birdie on the par-4 17th, the famous Road Hole on the Old Course. The hole played to a 4.83 average, with just 54 players making par.

Weather Watch: Forecasters are calling for links-style weather Friday, with strong winds and rain throughout the day.

Quoteworthy: “I remember when I got my tee times, I’m like, sweet, that’s the good side. Well, it may not be. Who knows? You just never know. You never know. I’d love to be a meteorologist over here.” Zach Johnson on getting the best tee time for the weather.

Friday’s featured pairing: Dustin Johnson, Hideki Matsuyama, Jordan Spieth, 9:34 a.m. EDT.

TV: 4 a.m. to 3 p.m. EDT, ESPN.
