GREENVILLE, Miss. (AP) - The renovation of the Old Yazoo & Mississippi Valley Railroad Depot is on hold while the city of Greenville prepares to re-advertise for construction bids.

Public Works director Brad Jones says the city only received one bid and it was well over budget.

The Delta Democrat-Times reports (https://bit.ly/1e0Vz2O ) the depot is become the new home of the Washington County Economic Alliance.

Renovation on the depot is being paid for with a $400,000 grant from the Mississippi Department of Transportation and a $135,000 grant from the Mississippi Department of Archives and History.

Jones says the renovation will include multiple upgrades including creating office spaces, new lighting and new air conditioning and heating systems. He says the area once home to the station master will be transformed into a kitchenette.
