LAS VEGAS (AP) - A man told North Las Vegas police he shot and killed his wife after she sprayed him with weed killer during an argument.

KLAS-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1HR7w2x ) that 78-year-old Arthur Mattox called 911 after he shot his 70-year-old wife in the chest July 13.

According to a police report, Mattox said he and his wife had been at home when he yelled to her to ask about his oxygen tank. He said she began yelling at him and hitting him.

The report said that she later entered his room with a container of weed killer and started spraying at him. Mattox said he then pulled out a handgun from under his pillow and fired it at her.

Mattox told police he and his wife had been arguing consistently since January.
