DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - A man accused of fatally running over a 6-year-old boy as the child played on a trampoline has pleaded not guilty to vehicular homicide and other charges.

The Des Moines Register reports (https://dmreg.co/1O8pEK4 ) that 44-year-old Gudalupe Villa-Guzman entered the plea on Wednesday. He is also charged with serious injury by vehicle and driving with a suspended license.

Police say Irving Augilar-Gonzales died June 1 when a pickup driven by Villa-Guzman rear-ended a van and crashed through two fences before hitting a trampoline on which the boy was playing. The pickup pushed the trampoline into a drainage ditch, pinning the boy underneath. A 4-year-old was also injured.

Police say Villa-Guzman never showed for a medical exam after a 2012 crash in which he was believed to have had a seizure.
