SEEKONK, Mass. (AP) - Firefighters in southeastern Massachusetts used a special oxygen mask for pets to rescue a cat during a house fire. They also saved a bird.

Fire crews responded to the fire at a home in Seekonk Thursday morning. No residents were home at the time, and no injuries were reported.

WPRI-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1GoKlM1 ) that firefighters used the special mask to give oxygen to the cat named Oreo, who was later brought to Bristol County Veterinary Hospital. The hospital says Oreo was taken to the emergency center in Swansea, where it will probably spend the night receiving oxygen.

More information on the bird isn’t available.

Officials say the fire appears to have started in the basement. The cause remains under investigation.
