GEORGETOWN, Del. (AP) - Authorities say a man has died after the tractor he was operating overturned into a water-filled ditch near Georgetown.

Delaware State Police say first responders discovered the body of 47-year-old Kendall Hastings of Georgetown under a tractor in a drainage ditch behind his home Wednesday night.

Sgt. Richard Bratz says Hastings was apparently riding the tractor, cutting brush along the deep ditch when one of the tractor’s tires slipped off the steep bank, causing the tractor to overturn and trapping Hastings underwater.

The state Division of Forensic Science will conduct an autopsy to determine Hasting’s exact cause of death.
