SAYRE, Okla. (AP) - The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is investigating the shooting and wounding of a man by police as he led law officers on a chase in a stolen police car in western Oklahoma.

The OSBI says 21-year-old Patrick Brown of Sayre was treated and released after being shot once in the shoulder when officers from Sayre and Erick fired at him Wednesday. It was not revealed which town’s officer fired the shot that struck Brown.

The OSBI says Sayre police had arrested Brown following a traffic stop and placed him in the back of a police car before Brown managed to get to the front of the car and drive away.

Officers from Erick and Beckham County deputies eventually joined the pursuit before officers were able to stop the car near Sweetwater.
