WATERBURY, Vt. (AP) - Vermont’s Department of Public Safety now is going to have two Flynns at the top.

Keith Flynn has been commissioner of the part of state government that includes the State Police and Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security since Gov. Peter Shumlin took office and appointed him in 2011.

On Wednesday it was announced that Joe Flynn - no relation to Keith Flynn - would move from head of emergency management to become deputy commissioner.

Joe Flynn previously had served in several roles involving emergency management and response, including chief of the South Hero Volunteer Fire Department. He also has served as rail director at the state Agency of Transportation.
