GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) - The N.C. Highway Patrol says one person is dead and at least five others hurt after a tractor-trailer hit a group of motorcyclists on Interstate 85 in Greensboro.

WFMY-TV in Greensboro reports (https://on.wfmy.com/1HWm6WB) the crash happened near mile marker 121 at around 6:15 a.m. Friday.

According to the patrol, six motorcyclists had stopped on the side of the road. The patrol said the tractor trailer somehow swerved off the road and into the group. The tractor trailer stopped on the shoulder approximately a mile down the road at mile marker 118 and just before the Business I-85 split.

The patrol said it was interviewing the tractor-trailer driver and another passenger to determine how the crash happened and why the tractor-trailer traveled another mile before stopping.
