MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) - Police have charged an Antioch man with criminal homicide in the death of a missing man whose remains are believed to have been recently found.

The Tennessean (https://tnne.ws/1HyCb7K ) reports that 22-year-old Joshua A. Smith was arrested Thursday, the day after the body of a man was found shot to death in Rockvale.

Metro Nashville police spokesman Don Aaron says the remains are likely those of 23-year-old Luis A. Diaz, of Nashville, who was reported missing July 8. Authorities are awaiting DNA testing to confirm the body’s identity.

The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office says deputies located the remains after someone reported a strange odor around an old, abandoned building.

Investigators believe Smith and Diaz were involved in a drug deal. Jail records do not indicate whether Smith has hired an attorney.
