NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - The New Jersey Devils have re-signed forward Stefan Matteau to a two-year contract.
Devils’ General Manager Ray Shero on Friday announced the deal with the 21-year-old who is entering his third year with the team.
The contract has an annual average value of $612,500.
Matteau played last season with the American Hockey League’s Albany Devils as well as the New Jersey Devils. He finished tied for sixth in scoring with the Albany Devils last season
He was selected for the 2015 World Championships but did not play because of an injury.
Matteau was New Jersey’s first choice and the 29th overall pick in the 2012 NHL draft.
