SIDNEY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - A western Michigan man has been charged in the slaying of an 80-year-man during a home break-in.

WOOD-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1HzkANe ) that 48-year-old Alan Lee Morse of Stanton was arraigned Friday on murder and home invasion charges.

Alan Nelson was shot to death. His body was found in March inside his Sidney Township home. A neighbor who works in law enforcement went to check on Nelson and discovered his body after he failed to show up at a friend’s house for dinner.

Police have said four homes in the neighborhood, including Nelson’s home, had been broken into.

Sidney Township is in Montcalm County, about 40 miles northeast of Grand Rapids.
