ST. LOUIS (AP) - Authorities say a man working on the Eads Bridge in St. Louis has died after a towboat ran into the bridge.

According to the St. Louis Fire Department, the man was killed around 3:15 p.m. Thursday. Fire officials say the impact from a towboat traveling southbound caused the man to fall from some scaffolding on which he was working on and land on the towboat. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration said the victim was an employee of Thomas Industrial Coatings. The agency is investigating the incident.
