MANDAN, N.D. (AP) - A Mandan teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student has surrendered her teaching license and her position at Mandan High School as part of a plea deal.

On Thursday, South Central District Judge Bruce Romanick sentenced 35-year-old Amanda Kolosky to a one-year suspended sentence and two years of supervised probation. The Bismarck Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1GrrLmx ) Kolosky pleaded guilty to misdemeanor contributing to the deprivation of a minor.

Kolosky was originally charged with felony corruption of a minor, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and mandatory sex offender registration. She will not be required to register as a sex offender.

In an interview with police, Kolosky admitted to inappropriate physical contact with the student.
