QUEENSBURY, N.Y. (AP) - State police say no one was injured when a tour bus carrying 55 passengers caught fire on an upstate New York highway.

Troopers say the bus was traveling in the southbound lanes of Interstate 87, the Adirondack Northway, when it caught fire around 3:30 p.m. Thursday between exits 21 and 20 in the Warren County town of Queensbury, 50 miles north of Albany.

Police say everyone on board was able to get off the bus before the entire vehicle became engulfed in flames.

The fire shut down the Northway’s southbound lanes for about five hours while emergency crews doused the fire and a towing company removed the gutted vehicle.

The passengers were put on another bus. The name of the bus company and the tour group’s destination haven’t been released.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
