PAUL SMITHS, N.Y. (AP) - Paul Smith’s College in the northern Adirondacks is adding the name of philanthropist and long-time benefactor Joan Weill to its name.

The four-year college announced Thursday that it’s seeking permission from the state Board of Regents to change its name to Joan Weill-Paul Smith’s College. The Adirondack Daily Enterprise (https://bit.ly/1HBlFC1 ) reports that Weill will give the school $20 million if the Regents approve the change.

Weill and her husband, retired Citigroup CEO Sanford Weill, have a home nearby and have given the school nearly $10 million over the last 20 years.

The Weills are involved with numerous other organizations including Weill Cornell Medical College, Cornell University, Carnegie Hall and the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.
