POTTSTOWN, Pa. (AP) - A 22-year-old eastern Pennsylvania man is accused of killing the man who had begun dating his ex-girlfriend.

Chester County authorities charged Zachary Ludwig with first-degree murder Friday.

North Coventry Township Police say roommates told them someone had confronted 20-year-old Nicholas Mruczek outside their Pottstown apartment Wednesday night. Mruczek returned to the apartment, bleeding profusely with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Police say Mruczek identified Ludwig as the shooter and that they recovered the shotgun Ludwig used from French Creek. Mruczek died in a hospital Thursday afternoon.

Mruczek’s girlfriend allegedly told police that Ludwig was angry about her relationship and had threatened to shoot Mruczek. Court records don’t list a lawyer for Ludwig, who is in Chester County prison.
