PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix firefighters used a cutting torch and other equipment to rescue a man whose leg was stuck in a canal grate.

The man was rescued Friday morning after authorities were alerted by a passing bicyclist.

It’s not immediately known how the man got into the water, which was about five feet deep at the grate.

He was alert and talking when firefighters arrived at the location near Washington and 48th Streets.
