SHERWOOD, Ark. (AP) - A Pine Bluff man who was being held in the Pulaski County jail on theft and robbery charges has been charged with killing a Sherwood man.

Sherwood police said Friday 20-year-old Michael Deshun Murphy is charged with capital murder in the death of Leon Hawkison Jr. at a Sherwood apartment complex.

Hawkison was found dead July 8. Details of how he died have not been released.

Murphy was being held on charges of aggravated robbery, theft of property and fraudulent use of a credit card. Police Lt. Jamie Michaels has told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette that the charges are related to Hawkison’s slaying, but would not elaborate.

Jail records did not list an attorney for Murphy.
