UPPER DARBY, Pa. (AP) - Police in a small Philadelphia suburb have critically wounded a suspect they say pulled a gun on officers after he held up a grocery store.

Millbourne police say the suspect collapsed to the ground after officers responding to the robbery around 7 p.m. Thursday shot him multiple times.

Police say the suspect took a small amount of cash from the store. He is hospitalized at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia.

Millbourne has about 1,100 residents living in less than one-tenth of a square mile on Philadelphia’s western border.
