SANFORD, N.C. (AP) - The FBI says a Sanford man wanted in the deaths of his wife and stepdaughter earlier this week has been arrested in Texas.

The FBI’s Shelly Lynch said in a statement that 54-year-old Billy Jo McLean was arrested shortly before midnight Thursday in Oldham County, Texas.

Lynch says McLean’s stepson was found safe with him. Authorities say McLean took his 17-year-old stepson, Tobias, with him when he left North Carolina.

McLean is charged in the deaths of his wife, Calandra, and his 13-year-old stepdaughter, TaShonna. Firefighters found their bodies Monday when they were called to an apartment after a resident reported smelling a strong odor of gasoline.

Investigators say Calandra McLean’s body was found bound with duct tape and her daughter’s body was found in a bathtub.
