PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - A suburban Detroit teenager and her adult boyfriend will stand trial separately on charges that they plotted to kill members of her family.

WDIV-TV reports that 23-year-old Michael Rivera heads to trial on July 20. The 15-year-old girl’s trial is set for Oct. 26.

They are charged with attempted murder and conspiracy. The girl is charged as an adult. Her parents say she and Rivera were lovers.

Court documents show Rivera also is charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a person age 13 through 15.

The Associated Press isn’t naming the girl or her family members.

Prosecutors say she stabbed her brother Oct. 17 in their Plymouth Township home. Police say Rivera guided the girl from outside the house, advising her on what knife to use.
