NEW YORK (AP) - Police say a teenager is in custody in connection with the rape of an 82-year-old woman in her Brooklyn home.

The NYPD said Friday that charges against the 18-year-old are pending.

The attacker got into the victim’s home early Monday while she was outside sweeping.

He hid in her bedroom, then assaulted her while demanding money at knifepoint. She didn’t have any money.

He stayed in her home for more than two hours and then raped her.

After that, he stole an umbrella and a bag of clothing and fled.

The woman was treated at a hospital.

Police had issued a surveillance video following the attack.
