NEWNAN, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say charges have been filed against a tractor trailer driver from Tennessee in a fiery crash that led to a traffic backup on Interstate 85 earlier this week.

Georgia State Patrol Sgt. 1st Class Mike Adcock tells the Newnan Times-Herald (https://bit.ly/1TFAY49 ) the driver, Ronald Diaz of Tennessee, was charged with failure to maintain lane in the Tuesday afternoon crash in Coweta County.

Adcock says the driver fell asleep behind the wheel, veered to the right side of the freeway and swerved to get back into his lane. Adcock says the truck jackknifed and hit a second tractor trailer.

Authorities say the truck’s side tanks ruptured and both caught on fire soon afterward.

One truck was destroyed and the other was heavily damaged. Officials say no injuries were reported.
