The Clark County Coroner’s office said Friday that Tsai F. Mattox of North Las Vegas died of a gunshot wound to the chest. Her death was ruled a homicide.

North Las Vegas police said 78-year-old Arthur Mattox called 911 after he shot his wife in the chest on July 13.

According to a police report, the man said they had been at home when an argument started and she later entered his room with a container of weed killer to spray him.

Mattox said he then pulled out a handgun from under his pillow and fired it at her.
