WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) - Motorists using Interstate 40 Business near Kernersville will encounter a shutdown next week as part of a construction project.

The N.C. Department of Transportation says contractors are closing a 0.4-mile section of the left lane along westbound I-40 Business near N.C. 66 in Kernersville in preparation for realignment work along the Macy Grove Road Improvement Project.

According to NCDOT, work will begin at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, July 21, and is expected to be completed by midnight on Saturday, Aug. 15. While only the left lane will be closed, NCDOT recommends drivers use I-40 instead of I-40 Business.
